Summer Stripes

Aloha friend,

As of today, it’s officially summmmmerrrr. Which, for us here in Hawaii, might be more of a state of mind than a change in fundamentals. That said, we’ve rounded up some cabana stripe pieces that make us feel like we’re on vacation, even if we’re not. Plus, some recommendations on what to shop, sip, and do.

SUMMER STRIPES

• All about this bralette and lounge shorts set from Kepola Design House. The designer, Amber, was born and raised on Hawaii Island and we’ve been a fan of her brand for years now. Slow fashion for the win.

• Cabana stripe bikini by Toast Swim, available at our fave, Shipwrecked Kauai.

• 100% cotton poplin boxers from Sister Sister over a swimsuit. With a linen or gauze button-down. Slippers. Shades. Raffia bag.

• This effortless linen dress by Okotokoto will surely stand the test of time. Linen! Pockets! Shell buttons!

• We’ve never met a stripe towel we didn’t love. Slowtide does it again with this wavy striped one. At the pool, on the beach, hanging in the bathroom.

Not pictured, but we equally love:

• The Elena Stripe Mini Dress by de la Rosa Hawaii is handmade using deadstock Italian cotton-spandex and has a built-in shelf bra lining for a little support.

• We’ll take these wide-leg Indian cotton pants from Imrie in every color, please.

• Since you can never have too many towels, this Slowtide one from Island Boy, too.

• The matching Charlie Pant and Shirt from Honua is so versatile. Love the bright color combo.

TO SHOP: Unsure how to talk in depth about underwear in a newsletter, but we have to recommend the locally owned brand Clette. TO SIP: Head to The Hidden Nene in Hilo and order a mai tai. Bartender Austin Phillips just took first place at The 2025 Mai Tai Competition at Kings’ Shops in Waikoloa, where 13 of Hawaii’s top bartenders competed for a spot at the World Mai Tai Competition in Las Vegas this August, and a chance to win the title of "World's Best Mai Tai Maker."
