Saltwater Supper: A Mermaid-Inspired Tablescape Shoot in Honolulu

Sometimes the best projects happen when a group of talented women decides to make something beautiful together. That's exactly what happened with this "Saltwater Supper" shoot—a dreamy, mermaid-inspired tablescape shot at a private Honolulu home, built around local ingredients and a whole lot of creativity. Photographer and stylist IJfke Ridgley set the visual tone; the founders of House of Honolulu lent their incredible vintage tabletop collection.

Together, we layered in fresh catch from Local I‘a, Kona Sea Salt, and Money Honey & Mead, lobster and fruit from Foodland Farms. Select shells and decor have been collected over the years (we’re all self-proclaimed vintage lovers/thrifties). A local potter made the amazing Mediterranean-style plates.

The day unfolded the way any good gathering should—slowly, and by the water. We started poolside with oysters (literally, inches from the edge), before moving to a citrus-piled table dressed in vintage shells and silver, sipping chilled Island Fruit Session between bites. As the light shifted, we brought it inside for cocktail hour—soft curtains, mismatched vintage glassware catching the afternoon glow.
