New Shops, New Collections

Get in loser, we're going shopping.

Aloha friend,

Cute stuff coming your way. Below, a new collection from a former bridal designer, gift shops galore, and events you won’t want to miss.

Cheers!

  • Thus far known for its bridal offerings, de la Rosa just launched its first ready-to-wear collection and it’s a perfect mix of everyday essentials and elevated basics. We especially love the Casita Shorts in umbrella stripe (seen above), and the 1960s vibe and feminine detail of the Emilia Mini Dress. Each piece is made to order and hand sewn at Koko Studios in Kaimuki.

  • Leave it to Bretman Rock to celebrate AAPI month in a huge way by commissioning artist Shar Tui‘asoa (aka Punky Aloha) to paint a mural on his home’s garage doors. Epic.

  • If you’re looking for graduation, birthday or teacher gifts, there’s an adorable new shop in downtown Hilo, Seaweed Snack Shop. Find unique local and national brands, playful souvenirs, and artisan snacks (and be on the lookout for upcoming workshops and community events, too). No problem if you’re not in Hilo—you can shop online!

  • That said, some other newish gift shops on Oahu include Potluck Hawaii, a pop-up in Ward Village by Selfmade Something owner Krystal Abucayan, and Small Kine Gift has been open in Kaimuki since late last year. Check ‘em out!

  • And lastly, this lei kit from Guava Shop is perfect for the season, too. The kit includes two short needles, one long needle, two rolls of waxed twine, small scissors, a bundle of raffia, and a spool of thread. Genius.
