May Happenings & Inspo

Events, chic collabs, small biz love & more.

Aloha friend,

We just realized it’s small business month in Hawaii, and that’s something we can get behind. It’s a big reason why we’ve continued this newsletter, really. You can find inspiration and some of our favorite shops and brands in all our posts, but especially these:

In My Beach Bag (essentials)
The Best Vintage Shops in Hawaii (vintage)
We Got You Babe (jewelry)
The Gift Guide (beauty, home, style, surf, food)

May is such a beautiful and busy month, is it not?! May Day celebrations, Teacher Appreciation week, Mother’s Day, graduations, summer kick-offs, etc. But it’s all so fun and largely centered around community and family which makes this month feel extra special. So even if you’re calendar is packed, check out the events below and save the dates (especially for Common Ground Kauai’s Lei Celebration & Dance Party, which is sure to be epic).

Okay, we’re a little late to the game but we just stumbled across Fursac Paris’ Spring/Summer 2025 campaign that features the Town & Country Surf Designs capsule collection. Lucky for us, we don’t have to travel to France (the horror!) to get our hands on it. Shop the pieces at Oliver in Kailua.

And while everyone is flipping over the Dôen x Gap collab, we’re more focused on the collaboration between Aloha Collection and Summer Club, Sig Zane x Putwell, and the Sig Zane Designs x Salvage Public collection.

On a similar note, we especially loved the result of the creative collaboration for the recent Muumuu Moments fashion feature in HONOLULU Magazine. Bravo to the whole crew: Brie Thalmann (Stylist), Sam Feyen (Photographer), James Nakamura (Creative Director), Christine Labrador (Art Director), Risa Hoshino (hair and makeup), and Tamiko Hobbs (model). So many great local brands are highlighted. See the whole feature, photographed in some Kaimuki hot spots, here.
