Interiors & More With Sun, Soul, Style
Get to know Christina Higham, peep her inspiring designs, and learn about her favorite spots on Kauai.
Aloha friend,
Because we’re obsessed with all things interiors, we chatted with Christina Higham of Sun, Soul, Style, a full service interior design business based on Kauai —and the wizard behind the cutest boutique and coffee shop in Old Koloa Town, Sister Sister and Java Kai, respectively. Not only do we fawn over how she transforms interiors, she’s also super stylish. So before she tackles her biggest project to date (becoming a mom!), we tapped her for her inside scoop on some of her favorite spots and brands across island.
Be inspired,
The Edit Hawaii team

Sun Soul Style specializes in renovation, new builds and full furnishing projects. At this moment, Christina’s working on her own home’s full renovation. And like it’s some sort of cult reality TV show, we look forward to her weekly behind-the-scenes updates via Instagram.
She has that ability to see a home's potential, while staying true to the lifestyle, spirit and personality of those who live within its walls. And though she does focus on big projects, she also offers one-hour design consultations in-person or online for smaller budget projects. Think help with paint colors, weird layouts (because Hawaii!), sourcing, etc.
For now, here are some of her tips, inspiration and hot spots:
Where are you from, and where are you now?: I'm originally from the Bay Area. My husband Daniel and I moved to the North Shore of Kauai five years ago.
Person that inspires you: I always tell people Hawaii is home to the boss babe—there are so many amazing female business owners and entrepreneurs here and they all are so inspiring to me. Especially as I transition into this new phase of motherhood, it's encouraging to see women who have figured out how to balance having a successful business and raising a family.
Local brands you love: Shipwrecked and Sister Sister are my go-to shopping destinations on Kauai. Sueno Made for the most gorgeous silk tie-dye pieces. Las Olitas makes the best neoprene beach bags. Found by Lucy and Damn Regina for jewelry!

Go-to spots on Kauai: Nothing better than stopping at The Haven for a coffee before heading out for a day at Tunnels Beach.
Shop for furniture and housewares in Hawaii: Hunter Gatherer for great ceramic pieces and decor, Sway Island Living in Kilauea has great furniture and home decor.
Quickest way to refresh your space: I feel like paint is so underrated! Relatively low cost but very high impact. It can totally change the feel of a space.

The perfect weekend includes: Sleeping in, farmers market, packing a lunch and hitting the beach all day with friends until we're crispy!
Staycation spot: If we're staying on the North Shore, definitely 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay! On the West Side, we love Waimea Plantation Cottages. We got married there, so it’s a sentimental place for us—the cottages have the most special, old Hawaii feel.
Your idea of paradise: A weekend spent in nature, totally disconnected with no phone or email, which any small business owner will tell you, is a luxury!
