Like so many of you, we've spent the past few days with my phone in hand, watching images from Kauai and feeling an all-too-familiar ache as another community loses so much. These communities—ones we’ve wandered through, shopped in, eaten our way across—are now cleaning up debris, assessing the damage, and figuring out what recovery actually looks like.

You don't have to be on-island to help show your love and support. Below, we’re sharing ways you can help, and a reminder that keeping Kauai's small businesses afloat is its own form of relief.

WHERE TO GIVE—Money & Time

Hawaii Community Foundation, Kauai Strong Fund: The most direct line to nonprofits and organizations delivering services on the ground right now.

Malama Kauai: A local nonprofit already working farm-to-farm and door-to-door, directing support to families and growers whose homes and land took the brunt of the storm.

Hawaii Foodbank Kauai: Food distribution is one of the most immediate needs after a storm like this—funds here go straight to getting meals to people who need them.

Lahui Foundation: Supporting Native Hawaiian-led recovery and long-term resilience efforts on the island.

The Hanalei Initiative: North Shore-focused, community-driven, and deeply plugged into what Hanalei specifically needs right now.

Global Empowerment Mission: A disaster-response organization already mobilized in Hawaiʻi with boots-on-the-ground relief operations.

If you have time rather than dollars to give, many of these organizations are coordinating volunteer efforts as road access and safety allow—check their sites or socials before self-deploying, since conditions are still changing day to day.

SHOP & SUPPORT

We write a lot about fashion and shopping because we believe where we spend our money is its own kind of vote. And right now, many of Kauai's small shop owners need that vote more than ever. Some storefronts have reopened (though fewer people are walking in the door), some are temporarily closed while the neighborhoods recover, but many are still available to shop online. Below are a few of our favorites to shop, share with your friends/followers, leave great reviews, comment on posts to increase visibility, and/or purchase gift cards.
