Aloha friend,

After a recent girls’ brunch at Istanbul, we all agreed long brunches don’t happen often enough. We ordered too much food, but somehow devoured most of it: multiple Turkish Breakfasts, a Nana’s Pancake for the table (labeled “the best pancake ever eaten” by one of our most discerning foodie friends), the Mosaic Meze Platter (a must), and Golden Drifts (aka fancier lilikoi mimosas) were aplenty. Highly recommend. The outdoor patio seating is a lovely option, but we prefer inside for the full experience. The interior design details are too beautiful to miss; the air conditioning is a bonus.

Also in Ward Village, the chic Westman Cafe opened back in March. If you’re not familiar, the restaurant concept is from Westman Group, which includes Kaimuki Shokudo, Buho, and Paris.Hawaii. We’re eager to check out the Afternoon Bubbles, happening Fridays through Sundays from 2 to 6 p.m.

Then there’s the newly announced Mahjong & Mingle over brunch at Vintage Books on June 6. For $25, you get tiles and instruction, and the full brunch and cocktail menu will be available. If you’ve been wanting to try Mahjong, why not with a mimosa in hand?

We’d love to know your favorite brunch spots!

Next week, expect the best kamaaina rates at hotels across the islands. Let the summer staycations commence.

Cheers,
The Edit Hawaii

Broadway in Hawaii: Theater geeks (like us!), tickets to The Book of Mormon went on sale today for shows in late November and early December at Blaisdell Concert Hall. We were lucky enough to see this show in New York when it first came out, and we can tell you, it’s amazing.

Summer Classes: Learn something new at Hana Kitchens. Their June classes go on sale today at 2 p.m. (think Sooper Secret Izakaya, The Baklava Class, The Greek Dinner, and The Matcha & Hojicha Class).
