ONE IF BY LAND, MORE IF BY SEA

The people of Hawaii have always had a deep connection with the ocean, and there is no better way to experience the magic of the islands than by sea. Even better if you can do it with friends. These maritime tours will give you a new perspective—and adventure—exploring Oahu’s iconic southern shore.

For Fun

Sure, it may be touristy, but nothing beats a day on the boat for some fun in the Hawaiian sun.  Jump aboard the Na Hoku catamaran on the beach in front of Duke’s and take in the shoreline of Honolulu as they sail past Diamond Head. The daytime snorkel tours take you to their favorite spots in Waikiki where you are all but guaranteed to see a turtle (or three), while the evening sunset booze cruise gets a little rowdier. As the only catamaran charter with unlimited drinks included, it can quickly turn into a fiesta.

For Luxury

If it’s luxury you’re after, it’s hard to top an afternoon on the Vanessa. Round up your friends for a private charter of this gorgeous 57-foot Beneteau sailboat, equipped its own crew. Our favorite tour is their three-house sunset cruise, where you can sail the seas of Waikiki as the sky turns pink, pupus and drinks included. If you’re lucky, Captain Ross T. Mason and his signature British charm will be captaining.

For Action

Want to ride the waves in Waikiki? Surfing is, of course, always an option, but outrigger canoe paddling is a uniquely Hawaiian experience. The Beachboys are a Waikiki institution and these stewards of aloha have been helping tourists and locals hit the surf since 1972. Join them to learn Hawaii’s official team sport while catching sets in the aquamarine waters.  Bring your family or friends as there is a four-person minimum for a ride.
